Men’s volleyball preliminaries Day 2 preview: Can U.S. get back on track?

Can U.S. get back on track?

Team USA men’s volleyball gets an opportunity to rebound Tuesday after a disappointing showing on the first day of the Rio Olympics.

Canada swept the U.S. out of the gym in three sets Sunday, but things don’t get any easier for the Americans Tuesday.

An Italian team that rolled to a three-set sweep on Day 1 awaits the U.S. as the two squads face off at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday.

After a day of atonement in women’s volleyball, can the U.S. men’s team follow suit and get back on track?

The Americans are ranked No. 5 in the world right now, but Italy sits directly in front of them at No. 4.

Here’s the rest of the men’s volleyball slate for the second day of prelims:

8:30 a.m. ETRussia vs. Argentina

10:30 a.m.France vs. Mexico

4 p.m.Poland vs. Iran

7:30 p.m.Cuba vs. Egypt

9:30 p.m.Brazil vs. Canada

Women’s volleyball picks up for Day 3 of the preliminaries Wednesday morning.
