Olympics: Shooting-Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions-Final

Italian Niccolo Campriani earns the third Olympic medal of his career, winning the men’s 10m air rifle event. The 28-year-old sharpshooter won silver in this event in 2012, and gold in men’s 50m rifle 3 positions in London as well.

Campriani took the lead a little over halfway through the final and never looked back; he put an exclamation point on his performance by finishing with a 10.7 shot. He finished with a final score of 206.1, leading second place by a point and a half.

Silver medalist Serhiy Kulish, 23, showed poise in the face of elimination, defeating former gold medalist Abhinav Bindra in a shoot off to earn a spot in the final three. The Ukrainian then leap frogged bronze medalist Vladimir Maslennikov with a 10.3 shot to join Campriani as the final competitors.

This silver medal is the first medal for Ukraine in Rio, their first ever medal in this event, and first shooting medal since 2008.
