Saturday Night Live cast member Leslie Jones – famous on social media as an Olympics superfan – will join NBC Olympics as a contributor for the 2016 Rio Games.
Jones will attend live Olympic events beginning on Friday, meet athletes and continue her enthusiasm and excitement on-air and online throughout the Games.
NBC Olympics Executive Producer Jim Bell invited Jones to Rio via tweet:
“We’re thrilled to have Leslie come to the Olympics,” said Bell in a statement. “She’s a member of the family, and her passion for the Olympics is remarkable.”
Jones recently appeared in Ghostbusters alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon. She was hired by SNL as a writer in 2014 and gained popularity after appearing in Weekend Update segments as herself.
