PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say a teenage boy is accused of fatally stabbing his 3-year-old brother and assaulting his 9-year-old sister.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials announced Monday that the 16-year-old suspect is being held in a Phoenix jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, aggravated assault and endangerment.
They say it remains unclear if the teen will be charged as an adult in the case.
The names of the suspect and his siblings haven’t been released.
Sheriff’s detectives were called to the home about 25 miles northwest of Phoenix about 11 p.m. Saturday night.
They say the suspect was tackled as he was running from the home and the teen was covered in blood.
Investigators say the children’s mother was at work at the time and three other children also were home.
