Top Spots: Best bookstores in Central Ohio

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Happy National Booklovers’ Day! If you’ve ever had a sleepless night because you just couldn’t put a book down, you know that Central Ohio has some of the best places to get your next fix. We asked viewers what their favorite bookstores in Central Ohio are, and here’s what they told us:

The Book Loft

Our viewers’ overwhelming favorite is located in historic German Village. If the charm of the neighborhood doesn’t convince you it’s worth stopping by, then wait till you find out it takes up a city block. And is one of the nation’s largest independent bookstores. And has 32 rooms of books. Seriously guys, you could get lost in there, but who’s complaining? Pro tip: Hit up a coffee shop and read your newly purchased book in the garden area.

 Village Bookshop

Located in an historic church off of State Route 161 in Dublin, walking into the Village Bookshop is like finding a hidden treasure. With more than 9,000 square feet of space full of books, you’ll find just about anything — from comics and SciFi to textbooks and best-selling novels.

Cover to Cover

If you’re looking for children’s books, look no further than Cover to Cover on North High Street in Clintonville. With a selection ranging from children’s literature to young adult, you’ll find both classic tales and new adventures. Pro tip: Check out the walls! Whenever an author or illustrator stops by, they sign the wall as a sort of a public guest book.

Destination Discount Books

It may be a little out of the way, but with an inventory of more than 85,000 books plus deeply discounted prices, what more could you ask for? How about a glass of wine? That’s right — this bookstore sells wine by the glass. And for you Doctor Who fans… it has a TARDIS. ‘Nuff said.

Half Price Books

Huge book selection? Check. Rare finds? Check. Collectibles and other gifts? Check.  The discount book chain Half Price Books is a favorite among Columbus residents. Our viewers’ favorites include the Graceland Mall store and the Carriage Hill location, but with six stores throughout the metro area, you don’t have to go far to pick up your next great read.

Barnes & Noble

A top bookstores list wouldn’t be complete with literary giant Barnes & Noble.  You’ll find anything here: best sellers, classic literature, comic books, table top games, music, DVDs, bookworm-friendly gadgets…the list goes on and on. Plus, with a Starbucks inside most stores, a trip to Barnes & Noble is quite the pick-me-up any day. Our viewers love the Pickerington, Lennox Town Center and Polaris locations.
