Ohio tornado confirmed Wednesday

Columbus (WCMH) – Many in Central & Southern Ohio woke up to wet pavement and showers, some to the south got a late morning shock seeing a tornado touchdown in Brown county.

In a state that typically sees 19 tornadoes in an average year, we only on average see 2 during August.  According to Storm Team 4, this is our 10th tornado in the state this year.

Storm Team 4 was closely tracking these storms Wednesday morning as they were pushing close to our southern counties.   There were Severe T-Storm and Tornado Warnings issued down in the south as rotation was showing up on Radar.

Just after 11am Wednesday morning a cell pushing into Brown County was being watched closely, and did in fact drop a tornado.   This was classified as an EF-0 Storm.

Estimated time of touchdown: 11:16am Wednesday.   It had winds estimated at 75 mph, was on the ground for roughly 1 mile, at a width maximum of 100 yards (300ft).

According to the National Weather Service Storm Survey team, it is estimated the tornado was on the ground for 1 to 2 minutes.
