Two arrested after shooting, hot grease attack in South Franklinton area

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police said three people were assaulted after shots were fired and hot grease was thrown on a person in an incident at Southpark Apartments in Southwest Columbus.

Columbus police responded to reports of a shooting in a building on Greenfield Drive just after 7pm. Columbus police and Franklin County SWAT officials responded to find that the incident began when people showed up at the complex to fight 22-year-old James Taylor.

Police say Mr. Taylor threw hot grease out of the window, hitting Zharrick Niece while he watched the incident. Mr. Zharrick then apparently ran from the scene before Blake Stevens rode up on his bike and began firing into the crowd that had gathered.

Police say Mr. Stevens struck two people in the crowd. Shawn Taylor was struck in his lower body but his wallet stopped the bullet, and Jacquan Tucker was struck in the arm.

Mr. Tucker was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Mr. Stevens and James Taylor were both arrested and face felonious assault charges.

This incident is still under investigation.
