COLUMBUS, Ohio – Urban Meyer addressed the media after practice Monday as they enter their last week of practice before the regular season begins. Meyer said this week his coaching staff will make the phone calls to parents that their son will be a starter, so making sure his team is “Game ready” is most important this week.
Meyer said there were bumps in the road early on in camp, but he was pleased with the mind-set his young squad brought to camp each day.
“I don’t feel resistance whatsoever, which I’d be crushed if I did with a young team,” said Meyer. He added, “If you have resistance with a young team, get ready for a couple bad years coming up, and I don’t feel that at all.”
Meyer said the only starter he is willing to announce is sophomore defensive end, Sam Hubbard, who had a break-out year last season behind Joey Bosa. Meyer also said his coaching staff uses a green marker to check next to the players they feel are “Game ready,” so a lot of players hope to see green next to their names by the end of this week.
