Columbus police arrest Kozy Inn murder suspect

COLUMBUS (WCMH) —  SWAT officers located and arrested Monteria L. Watkins early Monday morning.

Watkins, 32, was wanted in connection to a murder, of Mark E. Horne, 48, at the Kozy Inn in the 3900 block of S. High Street, at about 1:35am, Saturday.

A female, who was originally listed as a suspect was also located by police, but after being interview, is no longer believed to have participated in the murder of Horne.

Watkins has been charged with murder and is in police custody.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, Watkins approached the hotel room of Horne, Saturday night, where a fight ensued, and Watkins shot Horne.

Watkins ran from the scene and bystanders in the area called police.

Horne was pronounced dead at the scene.
