BRIGHTON, AL (WCMH) — A suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting at a ‘Love Thy Neighbor” event in Alabama.
Police told WBMA, that dozens of shots were fired at the event, leaving one person dead and six others injured, including a child.
According to police, officers responded to the event at about 7:30pm, Saturday, on the report of multiple people shot. Witnesses said there were multiple shooters and between 30 to 40 shots were fired.
“The day is called ‘Love Thy Neighbor. It’s not called ‘kill thy neighbor,'” said local minister Isaac Bruister, the associate minister at Friendship Baptist Church in Brighton. “Any time a human being can shoot into a crowd where babies, mothers, fathers are at, that’s a demonic being. That’s not a human being. He’s used by Satan.”
Police continue to investigate the shooting.
