LAS VEGAS, NV (WCMH) — Mohammad Robinson’s family says he was shot and killed because he didn’t hold the door open for a woman at a Las Vegas McDonald’s.
“It was a stupid reason honestly, irrelevant. It doesn’t make any sense why would you actually take someone’s life over not opening a door,” Robinson’s daughter Miniya Sampson told KSNV.
Police said Robinson got into an argument with the woman that was upset because he hadn’t held the door open for her. According to a witness, the woman told a man she was with, and that man pulled a gun and shot Robinson.
“He was the utmost respect for his elders. Yes, ma’am — no sir. He’s not confrontational even when we would argue he’d walk away,” said Mohammad’s girlfriend, who did not want to be identified.
Sampson, 14, told KSNV that her dad died because of a misunderstanding. “My dad would open the door and hold it for the lady but he probably didn’t hear her,” she said.
Police continue to search for the suspect.
