COLUMBUS (WCMH) –A Columbus woman is charged with felonious assault after investigators said she attacked a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy with a pickax.
According to court documents, deputies were assisting property managers in attempting to execute a court order to inspect the residence occupied by Donna White.
Neighbor Ashley Shoaf says neighbors have complained for years about the odor of cat urine coming from White’s condo on Tarryton Court.
Shoaf says the incident escalated after a locksmith drilled out the lock to White’s front door.
“She probably thought they were coming for her cats,” Shoaf said. “She loved her cats.”
Deputies said White slammed the door shut and yelled, “You’ll have to kill me to take my house!”
She then reopened the door and came out swinging the pickax and urging the deputies to shoot her, according to the court records.
“Yeah she came out…with some rage,” Shoaf said. “They tased her a couple of times and she was not going down without a fight.”
White was subsequently arrested and is scheduled for arraignment Thursday morning.
