LEWIS CENTER, OH (WCMH) — The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an alleged child enticement incident on Alisons Street in Lewis Center.
According to a press release from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, a man approached a 9-year-old girl who was playing outside on Aug. 20 and asked her if she wanted candy. The girl ran away and told nearby adults what happened.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office describes the suspect as a black male around 30 years old, who looks like the sketch above.
He is said to be driving a gray sedan, which could possibly be a 2000s Honda Accord, similar to the one pictured.
According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office there was another incident on August 20 in a different Delaware County neighborhood.
A father reported that his daughter and another girl were riding bikes in along Eventrail Drive in Powell when the driver of an older red Oldsmobile appeared to be following the girls.
Sheriff Russell Martin is telling parents not to panic but urging them to always report anything that might seem strange or suspicious.
“If you see something suspicious, if something just doesn’t seem right please give us a call,” he said. “Too often people say, ‘well, we didn’t want to bother you.’ Well, I want to tell the community we’re here to be bothered.
“When we respond to complaints (and) suspicious activity, we document that. And you never know if there’s a nexus between that and another incident might occur a month from now or something that occurred a month ago,” he explained.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office at 740-833-2800.
