Man sentenced to 28 years for deadly robbery in Turo Township

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The man accused of killing a man at a Truro Township apartment complex in a deadly robbery last September was sentenced Tuesday.

Todd M. Charles, 25, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification, aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence and weapon under disability for robbing, shooting and killing John “Tony” Emmers, 24.

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said Charles fled the crime scene after the incident, and was apprehended by police officers in Ashville, Ohio. Charles must now serve 28 years in prison.
