Person shot while driving in northeast Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Police say a man was shot while driving his car in northeast Columbus on Thursday evening.

Officers were dispatched to the report of a shooting at 2524 Vendome Avenue. Upon arrival police located 22-year-old Tevin J. Thompson suffering from a gunshot wound.

Thompson told police that he and two juvenile passengers were driving in the area of North Nelson Road toward East 5th Avenue when an unknown male walked out from between two homes and began firing shots toward the car.

Thompson was shot in the left arm. Passengers in the car were not injured. Thompson was able to drive home to call police.

Thompson was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

He wasn’t able to provide police with any suspect information.
