Columbus Fire says stolen ambulance found, one person in custody

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Division of Fire says a stolen ambulance has been located.

Clinton Township Medic 61 was stolen from North Columbus just after 2pm Saturday.

Medics were inside a home at 1999 Denune Avenue when someone jumped inside the rig and drove off.

christopher-ruelAll ambulances are marked with locators and police were able to track the vehicle. Police tell Columbus Division of Fire the medic was crashed at the corner of Oaklawn St. and Lakeview Ave.

Police say 37-year-old Christopher Ruel was taken into custody and charged with stealing the Clinton Township ambulance. Ruel allegedly stole the vehicle as a patient was in transport according to police.

Medic 16 stepped in to help medics on scene at Denune Ave.
