Child dies after being struck by vehicle in northeast Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH)– Columbus Police say one person is dead after being hit by a vehicle in northeast Columbus.

Police and EMS were dispatched to the 2900 block of Vista View Boulevard for the report of a pedestrian struck around 5:22pm Sunday.

According to Columbus Police, 6-year-old Cheick Camara was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in life-threatening condition.

He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead a little before 7pm Sunday.

Police are investigating. This is the 47 fatal crash in Columbus this year.
