COLUMBUS (WCMH) — In a letter sent to students and parents Sunday evening, Principal Mike Winters reported that the school website for Bishop Hartley High School was affected by a nationwide hack to school calendar vendor, OneSchoolStreet.com.

The vendor, out of Missouri, was hacked and ‘racist and hate-filled’ rhetoric was sent through email and on pages of online calendars that contract the vendor.

Bishop Hartley Administration contacted OneSchoolStreet.com CEO, Mike Mansker with the information and the feed from that website to Bishop Hartley’s school website has been disabled. It will remain that way until an investigation into the national hack is complete.

Other schools throughout the country were affected by the hack as well, according to the letter.

Principal Winters says in the letter, the school doesn’t believe there is any reason for concern about students’ attendance at school on Monday.

Mansker released a statement regarding the hack, saying it had “nothing to do with the security of the on the Bishop Hartley High School site.”

“Last night our OneSchoolStreet.com web site was hacked and hate speech was posted in events on the calendar and some of you received an email with essentially the same hate message that was sent from our site by the intruder.  This issue happened because of the hack at OneSchoolStreet.com and had nothing to do with security on the Bishop Hartley High School Site.  The events displayed there because of a feed from our site to the Bishop Hartley site.  This feed has since been disabled.  I want to apologize for this sequence of events and assure you that  security is our utmost priority.  We are taking additional steps to guarantee that this does not occur again.”

Parents or students with concerns or concerns can contact Principal Winters.
