PORT RICHEY, Fla. (WFLA) – The man Pasco County deputies say blew up his house while trying to make marijuana wax has turned himself in.
Deputies say Steven Brown, 24, turned himself in on Monday after the September 3rdexplosion at his Port Richey home. Deputies say after the fire, Brown then grabbed his drugs and fled the home, leaving his two caged dogs to die in the fire. A 1-year-old child was in the house at the time, but luckily was not injured.
Deputies filed 12 warrants on September 9th for Brown’s arrest including: Possession of a Place for Purposes of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, arson, Felonious Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Suboxone, Possession of Oxycodone, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Manufacture of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with intent to sell, Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. That same day, deputies say Brown fled from a traffic stop while driving a white 2016 Kia Optima EX.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office says this is the first explosion caused by marijuana wax or butane hash in the county.
