One person in critical condition following crash involving Columbus Police


COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Police have confirmed that one person is in critical condition following a crash involving two Columbus Police officers.

Two civilians were involved in the crash. They were both transported to a local hospital. One of them is in stable condition, and the other is in critical condition. The two police officers were transported to a local hospital as well to be checked out. They are both reported in stable condition.

It happened at 2:44 am near the intersection of Dresden Street and Duxberry Avenue in North Columbus. According to the fire chief, the police wagon was going East on Duxberry, approaching the intersection at Dresden Street, when they were t-boned by another vehicle.

One of the civilians was reportedly ejected from the vehicle.

Police on scene say the officers were responding to an officer in distress call when the accident happened.

Dresden Street and Duxberry Avenue are both closed in front of Linden McKinley High School.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
