Man charged with murder after his mother is found dead in Pataskala home

PATASKALA, OH (WCMH) — The Licking County Sheriff’s Office says a man has been taken into custody after he allegedly murdered his mother in Pataskala.

Sheriff Randy Thorp said Ruth Hackney was discovered in a home in the 200 block of River Forest Road in Pataskala on Wednesday. Deputies were alerted after concerned neighbors and friends said she had not been seen in several days.

The sheriff’s office issued an alert to be on the lookout for Russel David Littrell, 33, as a person of interest in this case. Littrell was later arrested by Columbus police in the area of N. High Street and Patterson Avenue, but the van he was said to be driving was not located.

According to Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp, Littrell has been charged with murder.

Deputies continue to investigate and ask anyone with information on the case or the whereabouts of Littrell’s van call the Licking County Sheriff’s Office.
