COLUMBUS, Ohio — Urban Meyer’s coaching family tree extends across America. Seven times he’s coached against a former assistant, and Saturday he’ll do it again. Chris Ash will lead his new squad at Rutgers into Ohio Stadium Saturday for OSU’s homecoming. Ash served as the Buckeyes’ safeties coach and defensive co-coordinator the past two seasons. Additionally, seven other Rutgers staffers previously served in quality control or grad assistant roles on Meyer’s staff at OSU.
Ohio State continues to set the pace nationally in turnover margin (+9) and defensive touchdowns (9) and their cornerbacks are leading the way in that effort. Marshon Lattimore is tied for the national lead with 3 interceptions, matching his teammate, Malik Hooker. Lattimore has overcome severe hamstring injuries the past two years and enjoying a monster season.
Meyer says LB Dante Booker remains questionable to play as he recovers from a sprained knee. CB coach Kerry Coombs says Gareon Conley will play vs. Rutgers. Conley left the Oklahoma game early with a stinger.
Here’s interviews Wednesday night with Meyer, Coombs and Lattimore.
