VIDEO: The new Gangnam Style? Internet goes crazy for pineapple pen

COLUMBUS (WTNH) – Some people are already calling this video the new “Gangnam Style” that was created by PSY in 2012.

Japanese comedian DJ Kosaka Daimaou’s Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen song, also known as “PPAP” has taken the internet by storm.

The YouTube video has been viewed more than 7 million times since being posted in August.

The viral video with the caption “this will be your new ringtone” shared on Facebook has received over 55 million views and over one million shares. The clip shows Japanese man Piko-Taro, a fictional character made by Kosaka, dancing and describing pens, apples and pineapples.

Pop star Justin Bieber tweeted on Tuesday that it was his new favorite video on the internet. Others also took to Twitter using the hashtag #PAPP to discuss the new viral sensation.
