EUCLID (WCMH)–The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said a 17-year-old football player died Sunday as a result of blunt force to the abdomen.

Andre Jackson, who attended Euclid High School, was injured Friday night at an away game against Solon.

According to WKYC, Jackson died Sunday from peritonitis due to a small bowel laceration.

The coroner said his death was an accident.

Head coach Jeff Rotsky told WKYC that Jackson was injured on a special teams play, when he and another player were going for the ball at the same time.
