Friday Freebies: A day in the park

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful weekend here in Central Ohio, so get out and enjoy it with these free activities at parks around Columbus!


Late Night at the Climbing Wall

Grab your rock climbing equipment and head to Scioto Audubon! Open till from 8pm to midnight, you can take advantage of the wall for the latest late night climbing session.

Autumn Campfire Sing-along

Craving a fall campfire? Join local singer Joanie Calem at Sharon Woods Metro Parks for a campfire sing-along! Plus, there will be marshmallow roasting!


Frolic at the Farm

Grab your blanket and picnic basket and head over to Slate Run Farm. Take an adventure back in time with 1880s-style activities!

Hike Back Into History

Head over to Prairie Oaks and take a step back in time with a two and a half mile guided hike. You’ll encounter figures from the past as you learn about the cultural history of the Darby Plains.


Check out the Glacier Ridge park and learn how wild animals get ready for winter! The Ohio Wildlife Center will be bringing live animals for demonstrations. Make sure to dress for outdoor activities!


Ever wanted to learn to shoot a bow? Come out to Blendon Woods and learn how to use a simple compound bow! This instructional clinic is for ages 10 and up. Registration is required.


Pumpkins in the Park

Enjoy some fresh apple cider and paint your own pumpkin in Goodale Park! Be sure to bring a pumpkin and a blanket to sit on. All ages are welcome!

Sunny Sundays

Join the Central Ohio chapter of the Herb Society of America in the Herb Garden at Inniswood Gardens and learn everything you need to know about growing and harvesting herbs!

Check out all there is to do at Battelle Darby Creek! You can noodle for mussels, go canoeing, try fly-fishing and so much more!
