COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police say a man is dead after an officer-involved shooting on the far east side of the city.
The person, identified as 20-year-old Jacquarius Robinson, was pronounced dead at 10:58 a.m.
Police released an update, and say Robinson “brutally murdered” Wade after an argument. They say he left the scene, then came back and shot Wade again.
On Friday morning around 10:49, SWAT officers tracked Robinson to the Knollwood Drive area. Weiner said officers saw a man walk out of a home who looked like the possible homicide suspect. An officer reportedly saw the man take a gun out of his jacket and put it in his waistband.
A K9 officer approached the man in his cruiser. Weiner says the man began running and led the K9 officer and two SWAT officers through the neighborhood to Knollwood Drive. A police dog was also deployed.
Witnesses reportedly heard officers yelling at the man to stop.
Weiner said there was a “confrontation” between the suspect and the three police officers in the backyard. He said witnesses reported hearing several shots fired, and said all three officers fired their weapons.
