Upper Arlington High School evacuated due to a fire

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Upper Arlington High School has been evacuated due to reports of a fire.

The report came just after noon Friday at the school’s location on 1650 Ridgeview Road. All students are being sent home.

Officials initially said the fire may have been started by a lightning strike. In a statement Friday afternoon, the district called it an electrical malfunction in the building.

Upper Arlington High School has dismissed early today, Friday, September 30, due to an electrical malfunction in the building.  All students and faculty are safe.

We are working with fire officials to determine the status of evening and weekend activities at UAHS.  We will provide an update as soon as possible.

The school had a 2:25 pep rally scheduled Friday afternoon.

No other details were immediately available.
