COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Chipotle announced Monday that it is expanding its offering of chorizo to all of its restaurants in the US.

The Chipotle restaurants in the Columbus market were among the first to test the new offering back in June. Columbus was one of four markets, including New York, Sacrament and San Diego in California, as well as one restaurant in Denver and the Dulles International Airport location in the Washington, DC.

The chain says its chorizo will be made from ‘responsibly raised’ chicken and pork along with flavors of paprika, toasted cumin and chipotle peppers.

Chipotle’s same-store sales plunged nearly 30 percent in the first quarter, when it reported its first quarterly loss as a public company, CNBC reported. The company was profitable again in the second quarter, but same-store sales declined 26.5 percent. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
