Man charged with rape, kidnapping in Ohio girl’s assault as she walked to school

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) – A man who police say sexually assaulted an 11-year-old Ohio girl as she was on her way to school has now been charged with kidnapping and rape.

Thirty-nine-year-old Randy L. Stanaford, of Dayton, was charged Friday with kidnapping with a sexual motivation specification and rape of a child under 13. He was being held Sunday in the Montgomery County jail.

Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said Stanaford is charged in connection with the girl’s reported assault at a bus stop on Edgar Avenue on Monday.

State records show Stanaford spent five years in prison for attempted kidnapping and public indecency. His sex offender registration lists him as living homeless in the Main and Monument section of Dayton.
