OMAHA, NE (WOWT) — It was a real-life “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” for an Omaha teen who gave birth in her home last Wednesday.
Tylisha Allmon, 18, said she went home sick from school with stomach and back pain. Later that day she welcomed a baby boy.
“I’m sitting there pushing, and here comes a little head. And then I just started pushing some more, and here comes his whole body,” said Tylisha. “I was just like, whoa, ‘I just pushed that out.'”
Doctors estimate Zaylen Armani Allmon was born at about 34 weeks. Zaylen is still in the NICU, but family expects to take him home later this week.
Tylisha said after she gave birth she wrapped little Zaylen in a blanket and went to find her grandmother. Grandma Sandra Allmon called 911.
“’Grandma, please calm down. Calm down, everything is OK’ and I said ‘how can I calm down? I have a baby on my bed,’” Sandra said.
Friends and family have shown support by donating baby clothes and other things this new mother will need. Tylisha also received a car seat at the hospital to take Zaylen home in when he’s released.
“Everybody is out there to help me and not against me helping him, and it’s just wonderful,” said Tylisha.
