3 rescued after being trapped on SUV in NC flooding


FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) —After nearly 15 inches of rain fell in Fayetteville on Saturday from Hurricane Matthew a water rescue took place in downtown on Saturday evening.

Two men and a woman were trapped on top of their vehicle in downtown around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday


The trio were waiting on top of what appeared to be a Ford SUV for a boat or high vehicle to come rescue them.

As of 7 p.m., rescue crews were on the scene nearby and a boat arrived around 7:08 to try to rescue the trio from the rushing waters.

By 7:30 p.m., a boat came near the SUV and they all got in and were safe.
