Four children in protective custody after adults overdose in home

HAZLETON, PA (WCMH) — A woman died, and a man was taken to an area hospital after a suspected overdose while four children were in the home.

According to WBRE, the children, ranging from in age from an infant to seven years old, were put into protective custody after emergency personnel responded to the Pennsylvania home, Thursday.

Police did use Narcan on both adults, but only the man was able to be revived. He remains in the hospital in serious condition.

The apartment where the children and couple lived has now been condemned.

“With the fentanyl and carfentanil and all these things today you know a simple little bit on your finger can overdose a child. So we wanted to be sure that we took the precautions,” Hazleton Police Depart Chief Jerry Speziale told WBRE. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
