Man stabbed multiple times over inflatable Vikings mascot

STOUGHTON, WI (WCMH) — It was anything but a case of a friendly rivalry when a man was stabbed seven times trying to prevent his inflatable Viking from being vandalized.

Dave Moschel is a Minnesota Vikings fan, who happens to live in the middle of Green Bay Packers territory in Stoughton, Wisconsin.

So when he saw a man vandalized the inflatable mascot, he tried to stop him.

“You hear him slicing this guy up, come outside, and ‘hey, what are you doing’ confront the guy and he takes his razor knife or whatever he had in his hand and we just go on the ground and start riffling around,” Moschel told WISC.

Moschel was stabbed seven times during the confrontation. The 21-year-old man who attacked him has been charged with reckless endangerment and criminal damage to property.

Moschel said he’s lucky to be alive and so is his attacker.

“Luckily I didn’t have my concealed carry on me at the time. Normally, 99 percent of the time I leave the house, I never leave without it and this is the one time I did. I’m kind of glad I did, because he would have been dead, and I would have had to live with that,” Moschel told WISC.

And according to Moschel, the father of six, this won’t stop him from showing pride in his favorite team.

“This is going to get a little piece of Vikings duct tape put on there and it’s going to be blown up every day of the week from now on. I’m still here, still living, still watching football.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
