Wandering four-year-old leads police to filthy home

Shawn Tisdell, 34, and Ashley Rennie, 30

FORT MYERS, FL (WBBH) A Florida couple was jailed and their kids taken into Department of Children and Families custody after investigators found their 4-year-old son wandering near a busy street.

Shawn Tisdell, 34, and Ashley Rennie, 30, of North Fort Myers face a misdemeanor charge each of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Lee County deputies said their home was filled with roaches and feces.

Neighbors said they would frequently see the two kids running around the neighborhood unsupervised, and when deputies arrived asking Tisdell if he knew where his 4-year-old was, he said he didn’t know and that his 11-year-old daughter was supposed to be watching him.

“They don’t watch their kids, and their kids are always out running around in the neighborhood,” one neighbor said. “I was wondering how long is it gonna take for someone to take them from them.”
