Marion County program has deputies check on the elderly

MARION, OH (WCMH) — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is expanding a program that has deputies check on the elderly and those with special needs.

Enrolled seniors can have a deputy check on them on a regular basis to make sure that they are safe and taking care of themselves, according to Sheriff Tim bailey.

“As Sheriff of Marion County I am committed to the safety and welfare of all of our citizens. It is my hope that if a senior citizen in Marion County has no family or caregiver available that they have the resources available to insure that they are safe and their basic needs are met,” Sheriff Bailey said.

The program has been active for several months in the Village of Prospect. It is now available county-wide.
