One dead in overnight shooting in north Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Police say one person is dead after an overnight shooting on the north side of the city.

Officers were dispatched to the Oakland Park Bar and Grill around 1:55am for the report of a shooting.

When they arrived on scene they found 27-year-old Deshawn Jones slumped over in the front seat of his car across the street from the bar.

Jones was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was unresponsive.

Jones was pronounced dead at 2:06am.

Witnesses say there was an altercation inside the bar that led to the shooting in the parking lot. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.

The incident remains under investigation.
