FLATWOODS, KY (WSAZ) — Two Kentucky teens came through in heroic fashion when they found themselves in a life or death situation over the weekend.
Raceland High School students Brad Blevins and Bradley Miller were driving on Caroline Road in Flatwoods when a speeding car tried to pass them from behind.
The driver lost control, went off the road, and crashed into a tree.
The teens saw the two people in the wrecked vehicle were their classmates.
They say the driver was knocked out of the car, but Brandon York was trapped in the passenger seat, and the car was smoking.
“I look up, and there are flames shooting up from the engine compartment,” Blevins said, “so I’m freaking out, but I had to keep my cool.”
“I heard Brad yell ‘We need to get him out,” York said. “Next thing I know, there are people pulling on me.”
“I was pushing on his shoulders and his head and trying to get his boots off because they were melted to the car,” Miller said, “and Brad was pulling him with all of his might.”
The teens were finally able to pry him lose and pull him out. Seconds later, the car exploded.
The two students who were injured in the crash are recovering and are back in school.
