The Ohio State University is a “special” place to LeBron James

The Ohio State University stands a special place for the 2016 NBA Finals MVP LeBron James. James and the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers are here in Columbus for their preseason game against the Washington Wizards at the Schottenstein Center.

James met with media at the Cavs shoot-around practice today, and he spoke about his connection with Columbus. “It’s always been a special place for me..and you know, being here…getting the opportunity to play in front of these fans and being in this city, it’s always special,” said James.

He also said he’s had a connection with The Ohio State University football program and head coach Urban Meyer since Meyer tried recruiting James when he was in high school and Meyer was the wide receivers coach at Notre Dame. “I’ve always kind of had a connection with the program, but me and Coach Meyer have had a mutual respect for a long time…we’ve been knowing each other for quite a while, and we have the some of the same goals in mind as well.”

The Cavaliers and the Wizards square off tonight at 7pm at The Schottestein Center. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
