COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Two 16-year-old boys have been charged in an October 13 shooting outside Linden McKinley High School that wounded two other juveniles.
Columbus Police say Daequan Brown was arrested Oct. 15 on two counts of felonious assault. Dey-Won Vinson has not been arrested; detectives filed two counts of felonious assault against him.
Last week, NBC4’s Courtney Yuen talked with one of the victims of the shooting, who was shot in the shoulder. Twelve-year-old Ja’Quan Curry told NBC4 he was walking out of school on Duxberry Avenue with his brother when a bullet hit him.
The other victim, 15-year-old Marques Johnson, was shot in the upper chest.
A detective on the case tell us Daequan and Dey-Won were driving past the school when a student outside uttered something to them from the sidewalk. Police say that’s when Daequan and Dey-Won found the remark disrespectful and opened fire from their car.
Police don’t believe there are any other suspects in this case.
