Three major road projects will impact weekend traffic

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–The Ohio Department of Transportation is working on three major projects this weekend, and issued an advisory to travelers in Central Ohio about road closures.

Weather permitting, bridge work will resume on US Route 33, southeast of Columbus and crews will make necessary pavement repairs on Interstate 270 on the East Side of Franklin County. Doing this work on the weekend is more efficient because traffic volumes are lighter.

Beginning Saturday morning, a ramp from US Route 23 to State Route 104 on the South Side will close for ten days so a section of concrete on the new US 23 bridge can be replaced.

Detailed information from ODOT is below:

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21 – MONDAY, OCTOBER 24
US Route 33 (Southeast Side) –  
US 33 east will be reduced to one lane between Gender Rd. and Hamilton Rd. from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The ramp from northbound Hamilton Road to US 33 east will also be closed. The detour is Hamilton Road to US 33 west to I-270 south to US 33 east.
The exit ramps to Gender Road and Hamilton Road will not be impacted; however, drivers should expect long delays eastbound and consider using alternate routes. Completion: 5 AM October 24

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21

State Route 104 (South Side) – SR 104 east will be closed at US 23 from 9 PM to 6 AM for bridge work. Eastbound traffic will be maintained using the exit and entrance ramps at US 23 to go up and over SR 104. By 6 AM Saturday, all lanes of SR 104 will be open.

 

Interstate 270 (East Side) –  Pavement repair work will close lanes and ramps on I-270 south from 8 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.

8 PM:

  • I-270 south will close between Main Street and I-70. Southbound traffic will stay RIGHT at Main Street to use the ramp lanes.

9 PM:

  • The ramp from I-70 east to I-270 south will be closed. The detour will be I-70 east to I-270 north to Main Street to I-270 south.

10 PM:

  • One of the I-270 southbound ramp lanes will close. All I-270 south traffic will be reduced to one lane between Main Street and I-70.

8 AM Saturday:

  • All lanes and ramps will be open

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22

US Route 23/State Route 104 (South Side) –  The ramp from US 23 south to SR 104 east will close at 6 AM Saturday for 10 days. The detour is SR 104 west to Haul Road to SR 104 east. The ramp from US 23 north to SR 104 east will remain open. Completion: November 1 at 5 AM.

Interstate 270 (East Side) –  Pavement repair work will close lanes and ramps on I-270 south from 8 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.

8 PM:

  • I-270 south will close between Main Street and I-70. Southbound traffic will stay RIGHT at Main Street to use the ramp lanes.

9 PM:

  • The ramp from I-70 east to I-270 south will be closed. The detour will be I-70 east to I-270 north to Main Street to I-270 south.

10 PM:

  • One of the I-270 southbound ramp lanes will close. All I-270 south traffic will be reduced to one lane between Main Street and I-70.


9 AM Sunday:

  • All lanes and ramps will be open
