Woman hit by car last month in southeast Columbus passes away

COLUMBUS (WCMH)– Columbus Police say the woman who was hit by a car on Winchester Pike last month has succumbed to her injuries.

The accident occurred September 26, around 5:40 AM.

Police say Demico Golden was driving his 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe, when he struck Elizabeth Blankenship, who was in the eastbound lane of Winchester Pike.

Police still are not sure why she was in the roadway, but she was transported to Grant Hospital in life-threatening condition and underwent continued treatment.

Ms. Blankenship was transferred to Riverside Methodist Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries Thursday shortly before 10 pm.
