Woman injured during civilian ride along after suspects shoot at officer’s vehicle

MADERA, CA (WCMH) — A woman who was participating in a civilian ride along with a police officer suffered minor injuries from glass shards after suspects fired upon the squad car.

Dash cam video shows the Madera, California, Police Officer attempt to pull over a white Mazda SUV.

After a short pursuit, the front passenger in the SUV fires about nine shots at the officer’s car.

The officer continues to follow the vehicle, when the suspect fires an additional four rounds, striking the squad car’s windshield and disabling the vehicle.

The officer was not hurt, but a woman who was participating in a civilian ride along, in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, suffered minor scratches from broken glass.

Police are still searching for the suspects, but said the white SUV, along with a  pistol, have been recovered.
