NEW YORK (WCMH) – The mother of once-conjoined twins is calling the moment where she was able to hold one of her sons one of the most profound of her life.
Nicole McDonald was able to cradle her 13-month-old son Jadon alone for the first time ever.
Doctors at Montefiore Hospital in New York separated Jadon and his brother Anias last week in a 27-hour series of surgeries.
Nicole had to wait to hold Jadon until doctors removed a breathing tube. She has yet to hold Anias. Doctos say he is recovering slower than Jadon.
The brothers were born conjoined at the head. Their surgery was the 59th such surgery to be completed since 1952.
