Victim in Thursday’s west Columbus shooting identified by police

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – One person is dead after a shooting in west Columbus Thursday evening.

It happened shortly after 8:30pm on Columbian Avenue north of Sullvant Avenue.

Officers were called for the report of a break-in at 174 Columbian Ave. Police say a dispatcher heard gunshots over the phone.

Police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived on scene. Police have identified the man as 35-year-old David Lee Hodge.

He was taken to Mount Carmel West Hospital with life-threatening injuries and he was later pronounced dead.

Police say there are no suspects at this time.
