COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Franklin County Children’s Services made visits in 2014 and 2016 to the home of 2-year-old Amiyah Bice, who was shot and killed Tuesday.

Her parents, Jessica Stanford and Julian Bice, were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds after the shooting on Parkwick Drive. Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Children’s Services says it received two referrals, alleging that the parents were using drugs.

Children’s Services first visited the home in October 2014, and again in May 2016. Both times, the child “appeared well cared for.”

Jaquon Poindexter and Norman Burke have been named as suspects in the shooting. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
