Man accused of killing 2-year-old girl denied bond

Jaquon Poindexter, 22

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One of two men accused of killing a two-year-old girl and wounding her parents was denied bond today by a Columbus judge.

Jaquon Poindexter, 22, made his first court appearance after being arrested last night in the shooting death of 2-year-old Amiyah Bice. He’s also accused of shooting the toddler’s parents.

The shooting happened just after 6pm on the 4600 block of Parkwick Drive on Tuesday. Two-year-old Amiyah Bice was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead at the hospital. Her parents, 28-year-old Julian Bice and 25-year-old Jessica Stanford, were taken to Mount Carmel West Hospital in critical condition.

The prosecution had a Columbus homicide detective on the stand who says the gun battle is over a turf war.  Detective Bob Cutshall says there have been death threats made against the defendant Da Quon Poindexter and the victim’s families, and there were concerns if Poindexter was released on bond, there could be more deaths.
