Man arrested for allegedly robbing cab driver

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Police arrested a Columbus man accused of robbing a taxi driver.

According to Columbus police, the victim parked his Yellow Taxi cab in the area of 3691 Sullivant Avenue. He was approached by a man who asked for a ride to Mount Carmel West Hospital and sat down in the back seat.

The driver asked for payment in advance, so police say the suspect then displayed a handgun.

Police say he demanded cash and the victim’s phone.

Within 24 hours of showing surveillance photo images on Facebook, the suspect was identified as 36-year-old Dennis Scalf.

Scalf was arrested on charges from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and taken to the Franklin County Jail.
