COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Central Ohio Crime Stoppers are asking for help identifying three suspects in a robbery at the Greater Columbus Convention Center earlier this year.
While thousands of people came to the convention center for a gaming convention, the three suspects had another type of gaming on their mind.
“They were able to steal one of the back packs of one of the participants,” Detective Regina Dudley of the Columbus Division of Police said. “In that backpack was the key to his guest room. They were able to go to his room and clean it out.”
Police say the thieves stole several items from the room, including an iPad, laptop and several gaming devices. Officers estimate the combined value of the times at more than $2,500. The suspects put the items in the stolen backpack and left.
Police say that all three suspects are in their twenties and are heavy in build. One suspect is described as a black man with a short Afro. He was wearing a white polo shirt at the time of the robbery. Officers describe the second suspect as a white man with very short, dark hair. He was wearing a dark t-shirt with what appears to be sweat stains at the time. The third suspect is described as a white man with short brown hair, glasses and a white t-shirt.
Police believe that the three suspects regularly attend gaming conventions.
