At least five families displaced after fire in north Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–The Columbus Division of Fire is responding to a second-alarm fire on Bruntsfield Road in north Columbus.

fire-2The road is off of U.S. 23 between Highbluffs Blvd. and Lazelle Road.

Crews believe the fire started in one garage and spread to others as well as homes. All together 17 garages were affected by the blaze. Some only suffered siding damage while others were completely destroyed. Cars inside those garages were destroyed as well.

Six homes were affected by the fire. One home was completely burned out. One was partially burned out. At least four others suffered siding and water damage.

The Red Cross stepped in to help at least 5 families.

Battalion Chief Steve Martin said no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
