TUSCON, AZ (WCMH) — A border crossing arrest in Arizona last Friday put a new meaning in the phrase “secret ingredient.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say a man is in custody after attempting to smuggle methamphetamine across the border in packs of hollowed-out tortillas.

The 62-year-old man from Nogales, Arizona, was stopped at the Morley Pedestrian Crossing when officers referred him for further inspection. Officers working with a narcotics-detection canine discovered three pounds of meth inside the packages of tortillas. The man was turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
